A huge congratulations to Kennett’s Aida Wheat as she has been chosen as the 2023 NH Gatorade Female Track and Field Athlete of the Year! Extremely deserving of this award, Wheat ascended to the top of the Granite State in one of the toughest, most competitive sprint contingents in NH history. Wheat went undefeated in the 100 and 200 all season long facing NH’s best week in and week out. This culminated with sweeping the MOC titles in both events. Wheat then went on to podium at New Englands in the 200 running a blazing 24.91. She is returning next year, so we are extremely excited to see what she will accomplish on NH’s tracks!
Congrats also to PEA’s Byron Grevious as he won NH’s Gatorade Male Track and Field Athlete of the Year. While we never saw Grevious compete against NH athletes on NH tracks this season, he had strong and incredible performances at HOKA Elite Mile (4:08 mile), NEPSTA School Championships (3:53 in the 1500, 8:32 in the 3k), Battle Road Twilight 5000m (14:04) and easily won the Nike Outdoor Nationals 5000 meters in 14:24.
